Use Legacy View

Using Public, Private, and Unlisted YouTube Videos on Strimm

  • Public: Anyone can find and watch the video on YouTube. It can play on Strimm when embedding is enabled.

  • Private: Viewing is restricted to the owner and specifically invited users. This setting is unsuitable for broadcasting to Strimm viewers.

  • Unlisted: Anyone with the link can watch without a Google account. The video normally stays out of search results and your channel’s Videos tab, but its link can be shared.

Required settings for Unlisted videos

  • Visibility: In YouTube Studio → Content, set the video to Unlisted and save.

  • Allow embedding: Open the video’s Details → Show more, enable Allow embedding, and save.

  • Video link: Copy the video’s share link and use it when adding the video to Strimm. YouTube unlisted videos do not require a separate privacy hash.

  • Playback restrictions: Age restrictions and other YouTube restrictions can prevent embedded playback even when the video is unlisted.

  • Test playback: Open your Strimm channel in a private/incognito browser window to confirm the video plays while signed out of YouTube.

Important: Unlisted videos are hidden from normal discovery, but anyone with the link can watch and share them.
