Vimeo: Using Public, Private, and Unlisted Videos on Strimm

  • Public: Anyone can find and watch the video on Vimeo. Embedding must also be allowed.

  • Private: Only you and authorized members of your Vimeo account can watch on Vimeo.com . This setting is unsuitable for broadcasting to Strimm viewers.

  • Unlisted: Hidden from public search and your profile, but watchable through its complete link or an authorized embed, if setup properly on Vimeo.

  • Embed only / Hide from Vimeo: Allows embedding while hiding the public Vimeo viewing page. This is a separate setting from Unlisted. Availability depends on your Vimeo plan.

Required settings for Unlisted videos

  • Link privacy: Select Unlisted in the video’s sharing/privacy settings.

  • Embed privacy: Under Share → Embed → Where can this be embedded, select Anywhere for the simplest setup. Domain restrictions can block playback on Strimm.

  • Complete video link: Preserve the privacy hash when copying the unlisted link—for example, https://vimeo.com/VIDEO_ID/HASH_ID.

  • Embed privacy hash: The Vimeo player URL must also retain the hash: https://player.vimeo.com/video/VIDEO_ID?h=HASH_ID. A missing hash can cause a “This video does not exist” error. Copy Vimeo’s generated link or embed code rather than constructing it manually.

  • Test playback: Open your Strimm channel in a private/incognito browser window while signed out of Vimeo. Alternatively, try to open this Vimeo unlisted link in the private/incognito browser window while signed out of Vimeo.

Important: Unlisted links can be shared. Password protection adds a viewer prompt and is unsuitable for uninterrupted channel playback.
